100% Chardonnay, clone 5 and Mendoza from the ‘Pururi' vineyard, Waiheke Island, fermented to 11.9% alc., with 6 g/L dosage, the wine spending 9 months on lees. The secondary fermentation and disgorgement was carried out at No. 1 Family Estate. ‘Tulia' is the name of the first granddaughter. Dark, deepish golden-yellow colour with some depth, pale on rim, with persistent, moderately fine bubble. This has a full, broad nose with deep, complex aromas of yellow stonefruits and bready autolysis interwoven with dense aldehyde and nutty oxidative elements. Dry and fullish-bodied, this features powerful citrus and stonefruit flavours in a complex amalgam of yeasty autolysis, nuts and aldehydes. Racy acidity provides good cut to the mouthfilling flavours and lends firmness, drive and length. A full-flavoured, firm and crisp sparkling wine to match with seafood and poultry over the next 2 years
