The opportunity arose for us to buy some pristine Viogner grapes from a grower in Gisborne, as our tiny production on Waiheke meant it was only available at the restaurant. We’ve made this Viognier in the style of our estate Viognier with good acidity and classically expressive aromatics, a small portion (10%) going through malolactic fermentation and ageing in oak, which gives the wine wonderful texture and weight. A finely balanced, full-bodied white.
